My Thoughts on “A Series of Unfortunate Events #3: The Wide Window” by Lemony Snicket
The third book of A Series of Unfortunate Events starts off with the the children being taken to another relation. I don’t think the children would have been well off with Aunt Josephine. She did not seem well suited to children, and her home felt rather uncomfortable to me. Not to say that I don’t think the orphaned Baudelaire children could have been happy with her. On the contrary, I honestly believe that the children would have been able to find happiness in even the most dreadful of circumstances.
I think it was by this time in the book that I noticed that something bigger was happening in the series, and that Lemony Snicket was in fact a character in the story, not just the author, and I was sucked into the story. I kept trying to guess who Lemony was, if the children knew him, and what his part in the story was.
Such a wonderful story, and I look forward to sharing it with my kids.
