Hey all, Ava Ward here! I write decadent paranormal, fantasy, and sci-fi romance, and love creating heroes with heart, heroines with punch, and engaging plots that twist and turn in inexplicable ways. I came from writing epic fantasy originally (under the name Jean Lowe Carlson), and have never been satisfied with formulaic romance. I strive to create characters that are deeply human – even when they’re dragons, fae, sirens, fallen angels, or beautiful demons! Before I began writing, I sang opera professionally, practiced as a primary care physician, and even did some bellydancing! Now I use all those experiences in my books, and even narrate my own audiobooks. 🙂

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE THIS BOOK:

I originally started writing epic fantasy under the name Jean Lowe Carlson because I had a long love of the genre. But the more I wrote, the more I discovered I LOVED writing all the spicy relationships and character development between love interests in my series. And voila! My Ava Ward line was born. Now I do both, but I absolutely adore writing on the fantasy romances. The Royal Dragon Shifters of Morocco series was inspired by a walk my husband and I took, and had the whole series brainstormed in 45 minutes! It’s evolved into a 9-book affair (can’t escape my epic fantasy roots!) and involves a parallel fae world to ours that will probably spark numerous series to come. 🙂
