JQM PRESENTS A BLOG POST INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR J.N. Tomczak
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF:
I am a big fan of anything retro. My author logo reflects that. I’m a huge fan and collector of The Dark Crystal. I also collect figurines and POPs from my favorite fandoms and still counting. I am also the proud owner of one cat and three pet frogs. I also love learning history, particularly subjects pertaining to the Civil War and the Revolutionary War.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO WRITE?
Everything. From movies, books, pictures, people, dreams.
WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS? WHY?
Brian Jacques will always have a special place in my heart. His books, the Redwall series, introduced me to my love of fantasy. I would probably not be a writer now if it were not for his books.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE BOOKS? WHY?
All the Redwall books. The Prydain Chronicles. Narnia. Lord of the Rings. The Grisha Trilogy, and the Icemark Chronicles to name but a few.
WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE LITERARY CHARACTERS? WHY?
I love Princess Eilonwy from the Prydain Chronicles. I love the spats between her and Taran. She’s independent, fierce, witty, and very sassy. 😉 All the things I love in a female character.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR FELLOW AUTHORS AND/OR ASPIRING AUTHORS?
Your first book may not break world records, and that’s ok. It might be your sixth or tenth book. Just keep writing, keep improving your craft, and always remember why you write. Because you enjoy it.
IMAGINE ONE OF YOUR BOOKS IS ABOUT TO BECOME A FILM OR TV SHOW. WHO IS YOUR “DREAM CAST?” AND WHO DO YOU ASK TO CREATE THE SOUNDTRACK?
For Aurora I would say Chloe Grace Moretz. She has that otherworldly look about her that fits the character’s description. For Tristan I was thinking Sebastian Stan. I would be honored to have Trevor Jones orchestrate the soundtrack.
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO SHARE WITH POTENTIAL READERS?
If you love the Lord of the Rings and Narnia, this book will be right up your alley. It has magic, aerial battles, faeries with wings, prophecies, and different realms, creatures, and races.
WHERE CAN WE GO TO LEARN MORE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR LITERARY WORKS?
