JQM LITERARY SPOTLIGHT PRESENTS Rise of Tears by Brand J. Alexander
FIRST, LET’S GET TO KNOW YOU A BIT. TELL US SOMETHING UNIQUE ABOUT YOURSELF:
Every year I design and construct a majority DIY dark fantasy world for my community for Halloween called Ravenfell Manor and promote a Haunts Against Hunger food drive to restock the local food pantry for the holidays. For a few months out of the year I get to bring the magic from my stories to life in the real world.
WHAT IS THE GENRE AND AUDIENCE FOR THIS BOOK:
Epic Fantasy. My writing style tends to draw from authors like Robert Jordan, Terry Brooks, and David Eddings. I enjoy the traditional 80s and 90s style fantasy and evoke it in my writing. So if you go into a book for more than just the main plot, but to explore the world-building, the cultures, and the amazing environments and creatures then I may be the author for you.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE THIS BOOK:
I wanted to explore the different facets of faith and religion. In a dying world, when all the gods are dead, where will mankind turn?
TELL US ABOUT YOUR BOOK:
Rise of Tears follows the story of a young man named Asahn, son and heir to the chieftain of his people. He is coming of age to take his place among the tribe’s hierarchy only to discover that the world is changing and most of the truths he once believed in are incomplete or entirely false altogether. As the future chieftain, he must learn the secrets of the Kahn Shogal if he ever hopes to lead them. Unfortunately, time is running short. Their world is dying, and according to the old tribe storyteller, Asahn may be the only one who can stop it. The people of their tribe are being hunted by a nefarious new religion rising from the south. And all of it appears to be connected to the origins of his tribe and the bloodline he carries. Asahn will have to uncover the mysteries of his tribe’s past and the secrets locked in his heritage while fleeing with his people deep into their dying homeland where even the land will rise up against them. But his greatest challenge could be the man he always looked up to. The stubborn pride of his father could doom them all unless Asahn rises up to challenge him.
