JQM LITERARY CHAT WELCOMES E.G. Stone

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF:

Bio taken from website: E.G. Stone is an independent author who has been writing, quite literally, since the age of six. Since then, E.G. has improved rather a lot and has written (so far) twenty-two full-length novels, various short stories, a screenplay, snippets of poetry, and various blog entries that may or may not make sense. E.G. enjoys writing in many different genres. The favourites are science fiction, mystery (preferably of the murder variety), adventure, fantasy — basically anything where the world isn’t quite what you would expect. When not writing, she is off musing about the workings of languages, both real and created, or wandering around and experiencing new people, places and things. E.G. reads voraciously, perhaps to the point of slight-insanity. She also is enjoying making a go of this writer thing full-time. Weird, nerdy, perhaps a little crazy, she is having a grand old time writing, reading, reviewing, interviewing, and causing trouble.

WHAT INFLUENCED YOU TO WRITE YOUR GENRE(S)?

I wrote what it was that I wanted to read. If I wanted something with dragons, I wrote dragons. If I was feeling in a particularly dystopian mood, that’s what came out. That’s why I have such a wide range of books that cover everything from epic fantasy to cyberpunk to (not published) mystery.

WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS?

Um… let’s see. Traditional authors: Louise Penny, Laurie R. King, Tamora Pierce, J.R.R. Tolkien, Shakespeare, Douglas Adams, Isaac Asimov, Jim Butcher, many, many more. Indie authors: Ulff Lehmann, Jamie Davis, Emilie Knight, Joe Malik, Alexzander Christion, etc. etc.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE BOOKS?

See above authors, add several more that I can’t remember off the top of my head, see their best selling books and assume that all of them are included on the list.

WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE LITERARY CHARACTERS?

Well, most of the characters from above books, but if we’re going to talk archetype, then I’m an anti-hero/antagonist type of person.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO SHARE WITH POTENTIAL READERS?

Language is an art and I love using language in a way that paints a picture. Perhaps not the picture you expect, nor the one that you first see, but a vivid picture nonetheless.
