Recent Activity

I apologize for my lack of recent activity. I have been working with Tate Publishing to get The United ready for publication. As part of that process I have spent a great deal of time this week reviewing the final edits of The United, and during that process I was talking with my wife about my book and telling her that my friend Ben was right, that Year the Next reads like a chic flick. And I was floored by her response, she told me very matter of factly that “Of course it reads like a chic flick, you are a living rom-com hero.”
I never thought of myself in movie terms, but I am still attempting to adjust to the thought that my best friend thinks of me as Sandra Bullock’s cheesy co-star.

Rick Spring, the original inspiration for Cave Spring

I remember the first time I ever entered this cave, it was with my father when I was a child, I do not recall my exact age, but I believe it was the summer before I entered the fifth grade, and I recall being very scared, and I felt like I was being watched by a demon or demons. Then later in life, again I believe it was the autumn of that same year (but may be mistaken on the timing) when my 5th grade teacher assigned the class to write a Halloween themed short story, I created a mythical wolf, whose name was Dark Fang, that had the power to hypnotize any who gaze into his eye, and whose sole purpose was to collect human souls. I thought where such a creature might dwell, and I knew that he had to live among the crevices and caves at Rick Spring and was the chief demon of those who dwelt within that cliff-face.
Fast forward some twenty years and what started as the original short story titled “Dark Fang,” has now become a novel titled “The United,” a title which is in the process of being published by Tate Publishing, the location where the demon lives originally inspired by Rick Spring is now known as Cave Spring, and Dark Fang’s name has changed to Lord Yrimwaque

Rick Spring, Logan Canyon

I had the opportunity to return to spot that served as the original inspiration for the location Cave Spring from my first novel, The United in August of 2015, and upon entering this little cave (or crevice might be a better word for it) for the first time in about 10 years, I was a little hesitant and nervous, then I laughed aloud and said, “of course I am scared, I know what lives because I created it.”

The United

After some hard thought, fasting, and prayers, my wife and I have decided to sign a contract with Tate Publishing this week.  My book is not yet traditionally published, but I have signed a contract with a publisher.  I hope it is a step in the right direction.

Ghostwriter

Tyann Wyss asked me back in May if I would be willing to buy her book, “Ghostwriter,” and I finally finished it this week, and posted a review.  I highly recommend this read, I found it very intriguing, and despite it taking me a couple of months to get to, I found it very difficult to put down.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

Undiscovered Title

Check out my Page, “Undiscovered Title,” it is a LDS science-fiction/drama short story that is based on a dream I had a few weeks and could not get out of my mind until I committed it to paper.  Now I am having a hard time deciding whether I should keep it as a short story or develop it into either a novel or novella, check it out and send me an e-mail at jqm.serv@gmail.com to let me know what you think.

5 Star review for The United from Wallace “Jason Hooper”, author of That Girl: A Street Lit Action (That Girl 1,2&3)

5.0 out of 5 stars The United!, May 15, 2015

By

Wallace “Jason Hooper”

This review is from: The United (The Rai Saga: The Realm of the Light Book 1) (Kindle Edition)

This book started off slow however it picked up quickly during the second chapter. I love the author’s character development. A great story for readers that like unexpected twists. I would like to read more of the authors work. I’ll have my eyes peeled waiting for the next release. Excellent job!!
